Regulation of Investigatory Powers: Codes of Practice

06 Jan
2016

For those that are interested, there has today been published in the House of Commons Library an update on proposed Codes of Practice entitled “Regulation of Investigatory Powers”

This covers, amongst other things, the investigatory powers of law enforcement agencies and the intelligence and security agencies provided for by the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) and the Intelligence Services Act 1994.

RIPA is on occasions used in relation to licensed premises, although in the recent past it has been curtailed.

These proposed Codes have been passing through Parliament and are not yet in force.
